Therion – Celebrators of Becoming DVD Box

Soms krijg je promomateriaal binnen waar je wel heel erg moeilijk een degelijke review over kan schrijven. Dit gevalletje Therion is zeer zeker zo’n geval. Van Nuclear Blast ontvingen we namelijk een promo dvd’tje met slechts 4 nummers, een zogenaamde “teaser”. Als reviewer kan ik verdomd weinig met zoiets als ik eerlijk ben….
Toch kan ik alvast wel verklappen dat de fans van Therion zeer binnenkort extra centjes uit de flappentap vandaan moeten gaan trekken. Want Therion pakt groot uit met deze box. Maar liefst vier dvd’s en twee audio cd’s kunnen de fans aan de collectie toe gaan voegen.
OP de eerste disc is het genieten geblazen van een concert (23 nummers) wat de band in Mexico heeft gegeven. Afgaande op het ene nummer wat ik van deze show heb kunnen kijken is beeld en geluid kwalitatief dik in orde. Op disc twee staan verschillende registraties van toernee’s door (Oost) Europa, Noord Amerika, Zuid Amerika en Turkije. Een studio report en zeven videoclips is wat disc drie ons te bieden heeft. Ook kunnen we hier beelden van Therion op Wacken Open Air vinden. Hier lopen beeld en geluid niet helemaal synchroon, maar dit viel mij alleen op tijdens beelden van de drummer. Erg storend is dit dus beslist niet. Op de afsluitende beelddrager staat de geschiedenis van Therion centraal. Beeld en geluid zijn hier een stuk rommeliger, maar heeft zeker zijn charme.
Het lijkt me vrij duidelijk allemaal. De ware fan kan niet om dit document heen. Met een speelduur van tien uur aan beeldmateriaal en nog eens twee uren aan audio materiaal haal je een box van onschatbare waarde in huis.
